Retro Games Ltd next computer remake has been leaked via X (Credit to @TheRetroAsylum for one of the images below) and UK toy and gaming store Smyths. The Spectrum is a full sized modern version of the classic ZX Spectrum computer originally released 1982.
[UPDATE 26th August 2024] You can now pre-order The Spectrum from Amazon.
The Spectrum will emulate both 48k and 128k models of the ZX Spectrum and has a fully working replica keyboard. Does that mean it has rubber keys?
It will be bundled with 48 games including Manic Miner, The Hobbit and Head Over Heels – see the full list below. Outputting at 720P with PAL (50Hz) and NTSC (60Hz) support. There will also be options for original 4:3 aspect ratio and CRT filters you can use. When in 4:3 aspect ratio there will be a choice of 12 frames to replace the borders.
Save states are a welcome addition to any retro console, with 4 slots per game. There is also a rewind feature that will rewind gameplay by up to 40 seconds. You will be able to use a USB drive and load your own games, TAP/TZX/PZX/SZX/Z80/SNA formats are supported which is most of them.
The Spectrum will have four USB-A ports for additional controllers for multiplayer games and to of course add a USB drive.
The Spectrum launches on 22nd November 2024 and will cost £89.99
